This study aims to analyze the effect of income level and lifestyle on personal financial behavior through saving interest among students in the Plaju area of Palembang City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The research data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students and analyzed using path analysis and the Sobel test. This study employs income theory, lifestyle theory, and the Theory of Planned Behavior as the theoretical foundations for explaining the relationships among the research variables. Income theory explains that income level influences an individual’s ability to allocate resources for consumption and savings. Lifestyle theory explains that a person’s activities, interests, and opinions can influence consumption patterns and financial management. Meanwhile, the Theory of Planned Behavior explains that interest or intention is a factor that encourages individuals to engage in certain behaviors, including saving and financial management. The results show that income level and lifestyle are related to students’ saving interest and personal financial behavior. Saving interest also plays a mediating role in linking income level and lifestyle with personal financial behavior. The findings highlight the importance of saving interest in shaping students’ financial behavior to become more organized and responsible.
