Abstract

The utilization of Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) in Indonesia remains relatively low compared to short-acting contraceptive methods. The low utilization of LARCs is influenced by limited knowledge, concerns about side effects, and the widespread circulation of inaccurate information within the community. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge of couples of reproductive age regarding Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs) through an educational intervention at Desy Fitriyani Independent Midwifery Practice. The methods included pretest administration, educational sessions, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and posttest evaluation. The educational materials covered the types, benefits, effectiveness, safety, side effects, and myths and facts related to the use of LARCs. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge after the educational intervention. Participants also showed a better understanding of contraceptive options and increased interest in considering the use of LARCs according to their reproductive needs. Education on LARCs has the potential to become an effective promotive strategy to improve knowledge and support informed decision-making regarding contraceptive method selection among couples of reproductive age.
